Kamala Beach is known as one of the better surfing beaches in Phuket where conditions are good between May and November. Surfboard rental is available from a number of stands along the beach. During the high season months November through April the water is calm and ideal for swimming and snorkeling at the northern tip.

Kamala Beach has a small fishing community ambiance with several quality restaurants that can compete with the best on the island. A beach club and lounge scene at the northern end of the beach offers some of the trendiest hangouts, with the famous Ibiza club Cafe Del Mar leading the way.
